I will be going on our first adventures by Disney trip to china this year. Are there any suggestions on what to see on our pre stay day? Does a guide help with pre stay days? Are there any suggestions on what to pack for a 12 day trip with kids?

    Hi Stacey,

I'm going to answer the packing part of your question here. Please keep submitting more questions. I'm the only current Moms Panelist who has been on the China AbD trip, so you can ask them to me directly if you'd like.

Packing for this trip is fairly challenging. We encountered extremely hot, humid weather during our trip. We were very sweaty on most days. I would plan to bring lots of light weight tee shirts, possibly even two per day. You may want to bring athletic wicking fabric tees that dry easily, or purchase items that can be easily rinsed out and dried in a sink. The hotels all have laundry service, but it is expensive (like $5.00 to clean one shirt). This may be something you would do in a pinch, but not for family wash.

I would avoid bringing lots of white clothing. The air in China is fairly dense/smoggy and white tends to soil quickly.

There's really only one night where dress-up might be required. Girls could get away with a nice sundress or cotton maxi dress. Boys would be fine with a button down shirt or crisp polo. There's no need for a jacket/tie.

Sturdy walking shoes are a must. The Great Wall day can be hard on the feet.

Make sure you bring rain gear. And sunscreen is also a big must.

There are several internal flights during the trip, and obviously a big flight to get to China. English language entertainment is in short supply. I'd load up an iPad or two with movies, books, etc. I brought lots of puzzle books to keep my kids (young teens) entertained.

Again, keep asking more questions, I'm happy to help.
