Are fingerprints stored to your name or just to your magic band. Our first visit I used a magic band with my husbands name on it, we now have new magic bands, will I need to use the new one with his name on it or can I use the new one with my name on it?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Tim!

One of the unique features of admission to a Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park or Water Park is its “Ticket Tag” system. While you do place your finger on a digital reader at the Park’s entry touchpoints, your fingerprint isn’t actually stored in the system. Instead, the reader converts the image of your fingerprint into a unique numerical value that is then associated with you via your My Disney Experience account. The Ticket Tag system immediately discards the image of your finger after it’s initially taken, but the system does store that unique numerical value that connects you with your valid Theme Park ticket.

Your MagicBand is used in lieu of an Admission Card (which is the physical ticket). Because everything is connected through your My Disney Experience account, you can have multiple MagicBands associated with your account and use them interchangeably. However, once a MagicBand has been assigned to a particular Guest, it may not be used by anyone else. In your case, I have to think your husband’s MagicBand was inadvertently connected to your My Disney Experience account during your first visit. Since it’s already been connected to your biometric data, that MagicBand will permanently be attached to you for the purposes of its use at Walt Disney World Resort. If the new MagicBand with your name on it has not yet been used, I would recommend making sure it is assigned to you in your My Disney Experience account and then plan to use it during your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

You can read more about MyMagic+ and the Ticket Tag system as well as other information about the Walt Disney Company’s Privacy Policy and Radio Frequency Technology at Walt Disney World Resort in the Frequently Asked Questions section of the website. If you have additional questions, though, please don’t hesitate to come back and ask!

I hope you and your husband have a fabulous time during your upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, Tim! We’ll see you real soon.
