Hi! My fiance and I are thinking of doing the magic key pass payments as we live in Cali and I had a somewhat silly question. Can we go to Disneyland whilst doing the monthly payments or do we have to wait until they’re paid in full? Thank you!

Welcome to planDisney, Lily! This is a fantastic question. As a Magic Key Holder myself, I know how important it is to navigate all the ins and outs of the program, unlocking all the magic along the way!

If you’re a California resident opting for the monthly payment plan when purchasing a Magic Key, your pass becomes active once you’ve made the initial down payment and used your Magic Key for the first time, whether that’s entering a Disneyland Resort theme park or taking advantage of a parking benefit for a fully-paid entry lot, like the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure. Your Magic Key will then be valid for one year from that activation date, and as you make your monthly payments, you’ll have a full year of Disney magic ahead. No need to wait until your Magic Key is fully paid off to start enjoying all the perks!

Lily, I checked the Magic Key purchase page, and at the moment, the Enchant Key is the only pass available for new Key Holders. If you’re hoping for a different pass level, I recommend keeping an eye on the Disneyland Magic Key Instagram account, as availability can change. Following along is a great way to stay on top of the latest updates!

Should you decide to join the Magic Key family, don’t forget about the extra perks that come with it! Right now, Disney California Adventure is celebrating the Food & Wine Festival; one of my favorite times of the year to visit. The festival booths serve up delicious bites inspired by the culinary heritage of the Golden State, and the Disney Parks Blog’s Foodie Guide is a must-read for planning your tasty adventure. And here’s a Q-tip: Magic Key Holders can snag a special discount on the Sip and Savor Pass, which comes with eight digital coupons for festival food and nonalcoholic beverages. It’s a fantastic way to sample a variety of flavors throughout the festival. My wife and I visited recently, and let me tell you—the Musubi Fried Rice and Western BBQ Burger Bao were absolutely delicious!

    Wishing you a magical day!
