Hello! My fiance and I are coming to WDW and going to be visiting MK. He is in a wheel chair at home but also uses a walker for short distances. I understand the process for renting an evc. What is the earliest we can arrive to rent one of the chairs?

    Hi Mary!

I would highly recommend that you rent an ECV for the week at your resort for the most convenience throughout your stay. I was recently at Walt Disney World with my mom who uses just a cane at home. Due to the amount of walking at the parks and even at the resort, she found that the cane and a walker didn't suffice. The resort was extremely helpful and provided us with the information for a company that rented ECVs. We were able to quickly call and the company delivered the ECV straight to the resort within hours and they picked it up at the end of the week. You can even call ahead to reserve the ECV before you leave home so that it is waiting for you when you arrive.

A limited supply of wheelchairs are also available at the resorts. You can arrive at the parks 30-45 minutes prior to the gates opening, as sometimes they have certain shops and areas open prior to the park opening as they push back the rope drop into the park. Such as a Magic Kingdom, where wheelchair rentals are available at the Stroller Shop just inside Magic Kingdom. Sometimes this is open a few minutes prior to park opening, but your best bet is to just make sure you are there when the park opens.

Visit the Wheelchair Rentals page for more information on where the wheelchair rentals are available throughout the parks.
