Hello! I have a few questions... We are planning our first trip to Disney World in March. We will be driving. Would you suggest we drive our own vehicle to and from the parks and Downtown Disney, or should we use the the parks transportation? Thanks!

    Hi Heather!

I'd be happy to offer my opinion on this - and an alternative viewpoint as well!

Personally, when our family drives to Walt Disney World we prefer to park the car and let it sit for the week. We use Disney Transportation exclusively with the only exception being traveling to Downtown Disney. Since this is a vacation for all of us (and hubby does most of the driving), it is just so much more relaxing to park the car and forget it. There are no worries about traffic, where we parked, or where the keys are!

To be honest, in most cases (Magic Kingdom being the exception) Disney buses do take slightly longer than driving your own vehicle. Boat or Monorail transportation are usually faster or equal to driving. The trade-off of a few minutes of waiting or visiting other resorts is worth it to our family. We can all sit back, chat about our day and enjoy the scenery.

Quite a few of my fellow Moms do think that it makes sense to drive, since you are sure to head right to the park you are interested in without any other resort stops. You also eliminate any waiting for the bus, boat or monorail to arrive.

When deciding (and you can always change your mind during your trip), I'd weigh what's most important to you and go from there.

    Hope this helps!
