My father is retired military and would like to purchase tickets for my children's (his grandchildren) first Disney trip. Is it possible for him to purchase/activate tickets without him traveling with us? If so, would this be through Shades of Green?

Hiya, Crystal! I'm so glad you found the second star to the right and followed it straight on to us at planDisney.

First, I would like to truly thank your father for his service. Military service members and their families truly understand the meaning of dedication and commitment. As a military spouse, I know that the most precious gift is quality time, and I can't think of a better place to spend that time together than at Walt Disney World Resort! And with The World's Most Magical Celebration in full swing, you're sure to find magic waiting for you around every corner during your visit this fall.

Eligible Service Members and their spouses are offered great rates on both Disney Resorts Collection hotels and Disney Military Salute Tickets! To receive a special offer at a Disney Resort hotel, all you have to do is call and speak with a Cast Member. They'll be able to tell you which resorts are available for your desired dates at a promotional rate. My best tip would be to remain flexible on your dates and preferred resorts! Sometimes a whole new world of options can open up just by shifting your dates by a day or two.

Military Salute Tickets can be purchased by your father through his local base or through Shades of Green. Personally, we like to purchase our tickets through Shades of Green because they arrive already activated and ready to be used. No matter how you purchase your tickets, you'll want to make sure that your tickets are linked to your My Disney Experience account! Your next step would be to make your Theme Park Reservations using the Disney Park Pass system as soon as you're done linking your tickets.

Crystal, since valid military identification is required at the time of use, either your father (the Eligible Service Member) or his spouse must be present. I know this might not be the answer you were hoping for, but perhaps your father would be able to accompany your family and enjoy his grandchildren's first Walt Disney World Resort vacation together! If this is the route your family would like to take, I'd be happy to give you a few suggestions on how to create an itinerary that's practically perfect in every way for each member of your travel party.

I hope I was able to point you in the right direction today, Crystal. If you have any other questions, please visit us again. After all, you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon!
