Hi Michelle! Thanks for coming to visit us here at planDisney!
It sounds like you and your son are in for quite a treat spending an upcoming vacation at
Walt Disney World Resort! While I think having Grandpa present would be fun for everyone, I understand that this is not always possible! Almost every time we visit we bring the grandparents along and it has been such a blessing to have them relax with one kid who is napping while the other wants to go, go, go, and the third needs
another Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar!
Since minors do not need to provide
proof of Florida residency to enter the Theme Parks, your dad is certainly welcome to purchase your son's ticket with his
Florida Resident discount. Make sure he chooses to
verify his Florida Residency online during the check-out process. After speaking with a Cast Member today, it was suggested that your father is present on the first day your son uses his Theme Park Ticket just in case he runs into an issue. Sometimes, even when the ticket is verified online, the adult who purchased it will need to be present if there are any issues with the ticket at the Park turnstiles. After the first use, your ticket is verified and you should be good to go!
Michelle, while you're visiting the Resort, make sure to take your son to
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, especially if you've never been! Wake up with the sun and head to
Disney's Hollywood Studios early in the hopes of climbing on
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance before the crowds come in and the lines get long! During my first trip to this galaxy far, far, away I didn't make it a point to see this attraction, but on my latest trip I was able to try it out and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. I don't even know anything about Star Wars and I was completely blown away. Check it out!
Happy planning!
