Robert,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
What a great question! In a world filled with people counting their steps, the distances we cover are more on our minds than they ever used to be. When I first heard that the walk around the EPCOT World Showcase lagoon was over a mile long, it really made me rethink the amount of ground I was covering on a typical Walt Disney World vacation day.
Here are the distances of each walk that you outlined here. Write me back if you need any others.
- International Gateway to the Germany pavilion: 2,700 feet, or around a 1/2 mile
- Germany pavilion to the EPCOT main entrance: 3,600 feet, or about 7/10 of a mile
In the second case, I take you around the east side of the World Showcase lagoon by China, Norway, and Mexico, not by the International Gateway. This is a shorter route to the front gates of the park. There are still some construction detours around
Spaceship Earth that change regularly, possibly making the distance a bit longer. But this is a pretty good estimate.
BONUS TIPSIf your plans allow it, try one of the amazing caramel apples at the
Karamell-Küche store in the Germany pavilion. They are fantastic! Also, if you don't have dinner plans, I would recommend the
Biergarten Restaurant. My family loves it there, especially for the décor that places you in a nighttime festival in German village square, complete with an entertaining band.
Write me back if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Vacation!
