Hi Lynda!
So glad you stopped by planDisney! And what’s even better is that we get to chat about my favorite Disney resort -
the BoardWalk!
One of my favorite things about the BoardWalk is the location...including the fact that you get to enter
Epcot through the International Gateway entrance at the back of the park.
Unfortunately, though,
the Monorail is located at the front entrance of Epcot. So, there’s no way to access the Monorail from the BoardWalk unless you walk through Epcot (in which case you would need a park ticket). If you do end up walking from the BoardWalk through Epcot to the Monorail station, it will take about 20-25 minutes.
Now, let’s go over
all of your transportation options from the BoardWalk so you can get exactly where you want to go!
Bus transportation:
You’ll head out to the bus stop at the front of the resort if you’re going to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or one of the water parks. Once your arrival day is here, you’ll be able to check bus times on your
My Disney Experience app by clicking the three lines in the bottom right corner, then scrolling down to Hotel Reservations and selecting Bus Times. I usually plan to leave my room at the BoardWalk about an hour before I want to arrive at my destination so that I can give myself some wiggle room with time.
Boat transportation:
You can catch a boat to Hollywood Studios or Epcot by going to the back of the resort. You’ll see the boat dock right off the boardwalk. I usually prefer to walk to those parks, but the boat definitely comes in handy when I’m ready to rest my feet.
Walking:
Speaking of walking! There is a flat, paved walking path from BoardWalk to Hollywood Studios. When I looked back at past photo timestamps, it takes us about 12-15 minutes to complete that walk. You can also walk to Epcot in just under 10 minutes.
Skyliner:
The Skyliner takes you from the International Gateway entrance of Epcot all the way to Hollywood Studios, with stops at a couple of resorts along the way. The best way to access the Skyliner from the BoardWalk is to take the boat or walk to Epcot's International Gateway entrance. From there, it’s easy to spot the Skyliner entrance.
Looking back at photo timestamps again, our complete journey on the Skyliner from Epcot to Hollywood Studios usually takes about 20-25 minutes during low crowd times of the day.
While we don't often go that route to get to the parks, we love to make a
dining reservation at a resort along the Skyliner route to give us an excuse to ride! My boys love it!
Minnie Van:
Finally, you can always book a Minnie Van through the Lyft app. While this is a paid option, it will show up right at the front door of the BoardWalk and take you straight to your destination anywhere on Disney World property. Minnie Vans fit up to 6 people and include up to 2 car seats if needed.
One of the biggest
perks of staying at a Disney resort is that you know you'll have transportation covered no matter where you want to go during your vacation. Hopefully, that quick review helped!
Come back and let us know if you have any other questions leading up to your trip!
