How far in advance is it recommended to place a dining reservation? We tried placing dining reservations in AUG 2011 for NOV 2011 and nothing was available so we had to take our chances every night for the walk up lines. We are coming back in JULY 2012.

    Hi Keith,

Dining reservation open up 180 days in advance. If there is some place that you very much want to eat, then you should use those full 180 days. Not very restaurant requires such advance planning, but the character meals and signature restaurants often do.

For a trip in July of this year, I would very much recommend that you make dining reservations NOW. July is a particularly crowded time of the year, so stand-by waits will likely be even longer than in November.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you need ideas for places to eat.
