This is far in advance, but I am attempting to figure out estimate prices while still keeping our trip cost efficient. 5 of us going, but how much do you think an average adult should spend per day on food in the parks?

Hi, Peter. It's never too far in advance to plan a Walt Disney World vacation.

How much an average adult should spend per day on food is like nailing Jello to the wall. I don't think there is an average adult when it comes to dining around Walt Disney World. My family isn't big on breakfast, so we can usually get by with a Starbucks and a piece of fruit or a pastry. Many families have some small breakfast in their rooms - either stuff they bring from home or pick up in the Disney area - like yogurt, granola bars, cereal, etc.

I also know families that don't really like to sit down to a full meal, but instead, they'll grab a snack at a kiosk here and there. Maybe it's a turkey leg (which is the $10 range) or they'll grab a fruit cup, some popcorn, a Mickey ice cream bar - then there's no real reason to snag a regular meal.

My rule of thumb is if you are doing a quick service meal (counter service), figure about $20 per adult. If you are doing a sit down meal, estimate about $50 per adult. You may go a little higher if you add things like a cocktail with dinner or if you like to do a full meal at every meal - appetizer, drinks, entree, desserts. If you add in a bit of a budget for snacks, you might want to budget $100 per day per adult.

Have a look at the Disney Dining Experiences menus. It might help give you a clearer picture based on how your family likes to eat!
