    Fantasy 7 night eastern Caribbean cruise this April. We didn't book any excursions for our day on St Marten, any recommendations for things to do on our own? We are a family of four with children aged 5 & 7?

    Welcome aboard, Armando! April is just around the corner, so it's not too long until your family will be setting sail on the Disney Fantasy!

    We love taking Port Adventures, but it is also nice to skip the formal adventures in one of the ports to allow our family to explore the town on our own. I know you'll enjoy St. Maarten. Just off the ship you'll find a few duty-free shops, but it's much nicer to venture into downtown Philipsburg where there's so much more going on. It's about a twenty-minute walk, but I have a much more fun option for getting there to suggest. Near the port, you'll find water taxis that offer an inexpensive way to travel to the Boardwalk area at downtown Philipsburg. The water taxi can be a fun adventure in itself for your kids, and it certainly offers some gorgeous views along the way! You'll find lots to explore in downtown Philipsburg, and you'll get a feel for the local culture!

    If it's a beach day you're after, take a taxi to either Great Bay or Orient Bay. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas, but you might find it's a better idea to take one of Disney's Port Adventures there, as it's all included and you'll have the security of knowing Disney arranges the transportation and the ship always knows where you are. No rushing to try to get back to the ship in time, as they arrange it all. 

    Search around on the internet for more details and information about St. Maarten, Armando. There's lots to explore there, but I do think you'll enjoy Philipsburg and a relaxing water taxi both ways. Have fun planning!
