Ahoy Kyle!
Welcome back to the Moms Panel! April is a beautiful time to sail, and before you know it, you will be boarding the spectacular Disney Fantasy for a magical Caribbean adventure!
How much money you bring ashore really depends on if you are planning on shopping, eating or using the island's transportation. Many Port Adventures do offer professional photos and videos of your experience, and some have gift shops you may want to visit as well. When reading the Port Adventure descriptions at
www.disneycruise.com check the information carefully for any add-ons that will cost you extra. (They may also list what type of payment they accept.) Also, if you are participating in an excursion, you will want to tip your tour operator for their service ashore. While many shops, restaurants, and tour companies accept credit cards, you will want cash for tips, street vendors, and possibly transportation. U.S. currency and most major credit cards are accepted in the ports of call the Fantasy will visit.
When you make your last stop in Castaway Cay, your "Key to the World" card can also be used on the island just as on the Fantasy for all your onshore purchases. If you make any purchases at the stores, bars, or decide to rent a bike or snorkel equipment, a swipe of your card will take care of your selections. There is a small Bahamian market run by non-Disney employees that will only accept cash so keep that in mind when you disembark the ship!
I hope this gives you an idea of how much money you may need on your April sailing, Kyle! Please let me know if you have any other cruise questions because I'm always happy to help!
Have a magical day!
Nancy
