    We have the Fantasmic pkg booked for our trip in August. I've been reading that now the reserved area is in the center of the arena and not off to the side. Is this true?

    So technically no, the reserved seating for the Fantasmic dining package is still on the extreme right (as you enter the theater) of the auditorium. It is the "Witch" section. 

    HOWEVER, back in April there were some reported tests of moving that seating over to the Sorcerer Mickey section, which is just to the right of center. I hope it becomes permanent, because to date I have never been one to actively recommend the dining package, because I thought the seating they reserved was pretty weak. But this would certainly up the value of the package. 

    BOTTOM LINE: As with all things Disney, they will test this out. I think they will eventually make this move permanent, and I hope that they do in time for your trip. But you cannot count on it for sure. I would keep your package as you have it, and if you can still arrive early, you might find better seating by being in the regular line.
