Hi, this is my family's first time to Disney World and my 7yr. old son is diabetic. I was wanting to know if any of the quick service and table sit down restuarants have nutrional information listed? I have to keep count of his carbs to figure up insulin

Hi, Jennifer!  Believe me when I tell you that I totally understand wanting to keep track of carbs at Walt Disney World - especially when it comes to sorting out how much insulin you'll need!  It can be a bit of a challenge to keep track of things, and keep in mind that your son's insulin requirements may vary at Walt Disney World anyway.

Unfortunately, because of a constantly changing menu at many of the restaurants, Walt Disney World does not provide nutritional information for any of it's meals, including counter service.  You can ask at ANY restaurant at Walt Disney World, including counter service, for recommendations that would be better suited to the carb load your son needs, and some of it is somewhat generic, so you could get a rough estimate if you know the counts on foods from other locations.  I also have an app on my smart phone called Track3, which is a diabetes planner and lists carb counts on more than 80,000 foods.  It's a big help!

Talk to your son's doctor before you go.  Many people, myself included, experience a significant change in blood sugars once we hit Walt Disney World.  I find I needed way less insulin on vacation, even though I thought I was indulging more.  Your son's doctor will be able to provide you with some good advice with regard to your upcoming vacation.

And my best recommendation - which I know is hard for a little guy - is to test, test, test!  I always tested almost twice as much at Walt Disney World than I did at home.  It helps you to stay on top of things.

I hope this upcoming vacation is practically perfect in every way!
