Hello! My family’s first Disneyland trip is planned for May 5-9 with park days being Tuesday-Thursday. Will there be any chance for fireworks or parades on those days? My 4 year old would love to see, so I’m wondering if I should change dates. Thanks!

    Hi April!

Welcome to planDisney! Taking your family on their very first trip to the Disneyland Resort is such a magical milestone. My daughters’ first visit was right around that age, so I can personally say there’s nothing quite like experiencing Disney through the wide eyes of a little one seeing it all for the very first time.

I took a peek at the Daily Events Schedule, which lists showtimes entertainment at the Disneyland Resort, and it looks like parade, fireworks, and show schedules haven’t been released yet for any dates after Sunday, April 13th. That to be expected l, as entertainment schedules often roll out a bit closer to your visit. However, based on what’s currently being offered, Disneyland may feature the Mickey and Friends Cavalcade during your trip. This joyful processional starts near “it’s a small world” and makes its way down to Main Street, led by none other than Mickey and Minnie, joined by some of their Disney pals.

As for fireworks, the current schedule has them lighting up the skies Fridays through Sundays, with a special weekday run March 17-28. This limited schedule might still apply during your visit, so I recommend keeping a close eye on the Daily Events Schedule as your dates get closer. Even if fireworks aren’t on the schedule every night, Mickey’s Mix Magic is expected to keep the nighttime fun going! This high-energy celebration transforms Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, and the façade of “it’s a small world” into a vibrant, larger-than-life dance party. With colorful projections, lasers, and lights, Mickey’s Mix Magic is always a blast, and if you find yourself singing along to “Let It Go” with a crowd of fellow Disney fans, you’ll know you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.

If your travel dates are flexible, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention a huge milestone just around the corner. Beginning May 16th, Disneyland will kick off its 70th Anniversary Celebration! This incredible celebration brings back some fan-favorite nighttime spectaculars, including Wondrous Journeys, which will once again light up the skies over Sleeping Beauty Castle, and the return of the glowing, can’t-miss Paint the Night parade. Over at Disney California Adventure Park, you’ll also find a special surprise moment at Carthay Circle Theatre, complete with music, lights, and projection effects, plus the return of the Better Together parade featuring up to 30 Pixar Pals. And, just in time for summer, World of Color: Happiness will make its dazzling debut!

If all of that wasn’t enough, Guests visiting between May 16 and September 27 could save up to 30% on select stays. So if you’re thinking about adjusting your travel plans, be sure to check with a Cast Member about applying that extra sprinkle of pixie dust to your reservation.

April, no matter when you visit, you and your family are in for a magical adventure. If you have any other questions, or if you’d like more tips for making the most of your first family trip, please visit us again at planDisney!

Wishing you a trip filled with wonder and Mickey-shaped treats,
