Hello. I am going with my family (4 yr old and 8yr old kids) to WDW in April. We will be staying at WL. Could you offer me advice on the resort, why it is a good choice, and any tips / suggestions on making the most of our stay at WL. Thanks!

Hi, Greg!  I think the Wilderness Lodge is one of the best themed resorts Walt Disney World has to offer.  From the minute you walk through the doors to the sounds of the crickets, you will feel transported to Yellowstone Park in the Pacific Northwest.  You are surrounded by rustic, woodsy, incredible decor, including an amazing lobby fireplace and wonderful rocking chairs.

Each day, a family is selected to be the flag family, raising the flag that flies over the lodge each morning.  This is a first come activity, so when you check in, ask if there are any spots available for your family.  The Lodge also has it's own tour, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings, and it's a very interesting and informative tour of the resort, including explanations of the Totem poles.

You will find a table of Lincoln Logs in the lobby, so if you come back early one evening and are looking for something for the kids to do, I know mine could spend hours playing here.  There is also a great view of the Electric Water Pageant from the boat dock.  Check with the front desk for the time of the parade during your stay so you don't miss the show!  You can sometimes see some of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the dock.

There are other activities that take place at the Lodge, but you will have to ask at check in for a schedule, as they do change often.  Don't miss the geyser that goes off every hour throughout the day - it's a wonderful sight to see!

I hope you enjoy the Wilderness Lodge as much as we do!  It's a great place for a magical vacation!
