Ahoy, Johnna!
It is so good to welcome a fellow Midwesterner back aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Flying from Minnesota myself to sail with Captain Mickey, I know a vacation budget can shrink quickly with just the cost of transportation to your cruise. The best way I've found to stay on budget? Plan ahead!
One
benefit for Silver Castaway Club members is early access to new itineraries. There are more staterooms to choose from the earlier you book, so you can find the best one for your budget on the first day these new sailings are released. Be open to all stateroom categories, especially
inside staterooms, as with so much
magic onboard, I only find myself in my stateroom when I'm asleep dreaming of my next cruise! With a family of five, two inside staterooms may be more cost efficient than a higher category stateroom.
Disney Cruise Line offers several cruise lengths from three to fourteen nights, so there is a cruise for every budget! You can even
save on select Bahamian cruises if your travel dates are flexible. I like to cruise in early Fall and the first couple months of the year, which can be considered the "offseason" when many Mouseketeers are in school. I find the best prices and prefer the more mild temperatures during these months. Flights also seem to be more affordable during these times and when planning a cruise so far in advance, it gives me the flexibility to watch for the lowest airfare.
I hope I have steered you in the right direction, Johnna. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for when new itineraries are released and all things Disney Cruise Line! Please sail back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have any additional questions as you continue to plan for your vacation!
"Sea" ya real soon! Angie
