My family will be at WDW this upcoming December. I’ve read that most of the pressed penny machines are now $1 and are credit card only. Is this correct and is there any way to know which ones are still only .50. Thank you.

Hi, Karen, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Pressed coins are one of my daughter’s favorite souvenirs to collect during each of our Walt Disney World Resort vacations. As Annual Passholders, we’ve built up quite a collection over the years, but every visit we manage to find new machines or new designs to add to our books.

During our visit last month, I did notice more of the Coin Presses accepted either credit cards and/or Apple Pay (in addition to cash), but these were typically for entire sets of coins. There are still plenty of machines in each of the four Theme Parks, two Water Parks, Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Disney Springs locations that dispense single coins for 51 cents (two quarters plus your own penny). Some of our favorites are the ones where you get to turn the crank by hand and “work” for your pressed coin! There are some newer machines, though, that don’t  require you to provide your own change, and these tend to be the ones where you can get each for $1 or a set of 8 for $5.

In addition to the pressed penny machines, you can also find pressed dime and quarter machines located throughout the Theme Parks, too! The dime and quarter machines I’ve seen all take credit cards and/or Apple Pay and give you the option to purchase each coin individually or as a set.

Make sure you stop by one of the Walt Disney World Resort shops to pick up a Pressed Coin Collection Holder, Karen! These are compact books great for showcasing your entire pressed coin collection. To see a map of all of the coin press locations at Walt Disney World Resort, check out the Coin Press Machines page of the Walt Disney World Resort website.

    Happy collecting!
