    My family will be in WDW in October this year. We have never been to the water parks and I am wondering which of the two would be best for an 8 year old?

    Hi there Caryn!

    How exciting to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this October! My family has spent quite a bit of time at both of the Disney Water Parks.  Although we love both Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, my family would have to give the edge to Blizzard Beach. Disney's Blizzard Beach is our favorite water park for its unique theming and exciting water slides. What truly sets Blizzard Beach apart for my family is the Ski Patrol Training Camp, an area designed for school-age children and tweens. Ski Patrol Training Camp has a really cool zip line and floating iceberg course that you cross while grabbing hold of a suspended rope overhead. My ten-year-old twin boys could spend hours in this one area of the park. 

    I do want to mention that the Disney Parks Calendar indicates that Disney's Blizzard Beach will be closed from October 25 - January 2, 2016.  Please know that operating hours are subject to change, so you may want to check the calendar for Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park a little closer to your date of arrival.
