Our family is going to WDW in October. We are excited to go but will be bringing our 2yr old son and our daughter will turn 1 while we are there. What rides, shows, and activities will be best for them and what is the best dining option for them?

    Laura,

I've been traveling to Disney with my daughters since they were newborns, so I can tell you first hand that your little ones will be able to enjoy the vast majority of rides and attractions in the parks. Disney is family-friendly to even the smallest of visitors! I am happy to tell you that not many of the rides have height restrictions.

That said, of course there are some that my children enjoyed more than others. At that age, a few favorites were:

Magic Kingdom - it's a small world, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Mickey's Philharmagic, Haunted Mansion, and all of the parades. (Some people say their children are frightened on Haunted Mansion, but my girls have never been afraid at all and in fact have always loved it! It's quite tame.)

Animal Kingdom - Kilimanjaro Safaris, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo the musical, The Boneyard playground, and the Jammin' Jungle parade (our favorite in all of WDW!)

Hollywood Studios - Disney Junior - Live on Stage!, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Toy Story Midway Mania, and the Pixar Pals parade (new!)

Epcot - Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, the Innoventions halls, and the boat rides in both Mexico and Norway.

As far as dining, character meals are the way to go in my opinion. Your little ones will be free (under age 3) and most are buffets, offering good bang for your buck. They also keep small children entertained while you eat, and they help you avoid waiting in lines to meet the characters later. Much better to sit in air conditioning and let them come to you!

    Have a wonderful vacation!
