My family and I are going to WDW for the first time in February. we are going for 5 days and 4 nights (wow do I wish I had planned for longer) ! I have MS and plan to rent a scooter to help get around the parks. How does that work with the rides?

    Hi Sara,

Disney has lots of experience assisting guests with mobility issues. When you arrive at the parks, stop by the guest services office and explain your situation. Depending on your challenges, they may be able to provide you with a "Guest Assistance Card" which will allow you to bypass some lines. Guest services will also be able to provide you with a special brochure and park map showing how to approach each ride in a wheelchair or scooter.

The method of access varies from ride to ride. Sometimes you can wait in the regular queue with other guests and sometimes you will be directed to a special ride entrance. If you have any questions, just at the cast member at the front of each attraction.

The information provided by guest services will also tell you whether you can drive your scooter directly on to the ride, or whether you must transfer to the ride vehicle on your own.

If you're looking for more information, I can recommend a wonderful book called, "Passporter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World." This is available through amazon.com and other large booksellers and covers how to navigate WDW with almost any type of medical challenge.

Good luck with your planning and enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World.
