My family will be at the Walt Disney World resort early next year. We love Asian food and were thinking of trying Teppan Edo in Japan. Our son has celiac disease and is on a gluten free diet, making him unable to have soy sauce. Will he have issues?

    Hi Ellen,

Teppan Edo is one of my family's favorite restaurants! My oldest daughter would make this a must for every trip if she could.

When you make your Advance Dining Reservations, you should list that your son has Celiac Disease. This will give the restaurant a heads up that your son needs some extra pixie dust. When you arrive at your table, the server will ask you who has the food allergy and then send the chef over to the table. Your son's meal may need to be cook in the kitchen at Teppan Edo but it should not be an issue.

My youngest daughter has a shellfish allergy and they make her meal at Teppan Edo in the kitchen. This month we dined at Cape May Cafe, which is a clam bake with tons of shellfish options. The chef took her around the buffet and told her what she could and could not have and she was fine. Dining with an allergy is never a worry for me at the Walt Disney World Resorts.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
