My family is visiting WDW Jan 2-6, 2011. I realize 12/31 and 1/1 are going to be very busy days, but should we worry too much about the Magic Kingdom reaching capacity on Sunday the 2nd? Does the rest of the week look okay crowdwise? Thanks!

Hi Kevin! There's nowhere more magical to ring in the New Year than Walt Disney World! You're right that attendance at the Disney parks reaches peak levels on holidays such as New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  Sunday, January 2nd will still be very busy, but not quite as crowded as many guests will leave to return home that day. I wouldn't expect the Magic Kingdom to reach capacity that Sunday, but of course, it's hard to say for sure, so arrive early to be assured of being admitted.

For the rest of the week, park attendance should drop to much lower levels, and you'll likely see a dramatic decrease in the number of people in the parks. I like to use the Crowd Calendar on the unofficial website, www.TouringPlans.com, which is predicting crowd levels at 10 out of 10 for New Year's but only 3 out of 10 later in the week.

Hope you have a magical New Year's vacation! Come visit us again at the Mom's Panel if you have any last minute questions before your trip!
