My family and I are visiting Disney world for Thanksgiving and we will be on the disney dining plan. I would like to book a traditional thanksgiving meal for my family. Please can you suggest suitable restaurants? Many thanks

    Hi Amelia,

Ah, a Brit who wants to experience an American Thanksgiving. I applaud your spirit of cross-cultural investigation!  I have spent several Thanksgiving holidays at Walt Disney World. First let me tell you that nearly every table service restaurant on property will have some sort of Thanksgiving twist on their menu that day. You'll be able to get turkey every where.

However, for the full effect, I think you'll want to have a real traditional sit-down meal, with turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce and pie and wine. For that, I suggest Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. This restaurant is styled like an elegant Western lodge, with warm woods and fabric in greens and golds. This is one of my top three restaurants at Walt Disney World. The atmosphere is perfect, with a graceful blend of elegant and homey. And the food is simply divine. I had my Thanksgiving meal there in 2009 and I'm still thinking about it. Just like Mom makes, only much, much, better.

Artist Point is a 2-credit signature meal on the Disney Dining Plan. If you only wanted to use one credit for you meal, a good option is the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom. This spot features turkey and the fixin's year round and the servers wear traditional Colonial American garb. The Liberty Tree has a big following. I like it fine, but I think the food is more average than truly delicious. If you want to be "wowed" try Artist Point.

Good luck with your planning. Please let me know if you have more questions.
