Bright Suns, Jennifer! I’m excited to hear that your family will be blasting off to the Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in December.
Visiting the
Droid Depot on Batuu is so much fun for padawans of all ages (even the grown-up ones!). To secure a reservation to build your Custom Astromech Unit, simply visit the website and search your available dates. Since you can only schedule up to four builders at a time, I would plan to break up your building group into 2, with starting times 10-20 minutes apart. While a parent isn’t necessary to assist with the droid build, having enough hands could be an issue with 4 under 8.
The experience takes about 15-20 minutes, between choosing the droid pieces to the actual assembly. Once all of the droids are built, you also might want to shop for some fun customization accessories for your R-series unit or BB-series unit. My own R2-QT is mainly purple, but I purchased some fun pink stickers for his helmet.
Also keep in mind that each droid is going to come in their very own box that will need to be carried around for the remainder of your theme park day. There are some places around Batuu where the droids will interact with the land. Should you choose to ship them from Batuu to your home planet, simply tell your Droid Depot cast member and they will help make that happen.
I hope your younglings have a wonderful visit to
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in December!
May the Force Be With You,
Tracy
