Welcome to planDisney, Marsha! I spend summers in the Bluegrass State, so I'd love to help you start planning your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. Multi-generational visits are positively magical, so let's consider some decisions you can start brainstorming now.
Fall is a terrific time to visit the theme parks, and I'm curious if you chose Veteran's Day because someone in your party has a military background. If so, I suggest you look at the
Shades of Green website and the
Special Offers page on the official park website. Offers change, so watch these sources for the latest deals. Shades of Green is a resort for military families, and you can order theme park tickets through them. This would be a great starting point if anyone in your party is eligible.
Otherwise, my number one tip is to book your stay at a
Disney Resort Hotel because your family will love the convenience and perks of staying on property. You can travel to the theme parks together on complimentary transportation, and every resort offers activities for the whole family, especially the little ones. There's a resort for every budget and interest, and you can also request adjoining rooms. One of my family's favorites is
Disney's Pop Century Resort because the theming is larger than life, and we enjoy taking the Disney Skyliner to
EPCOT and
Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort.
I recommend spending a day or two relaxing at your hotel or doing some shopping at
Disney Springs. The theme parks are a main attraction, but giving my family a break between park days refreshes us for more theme park fun. And remember that the oldest and youngest in your party might need a midday break regardless of the itinerary. You could book lunch to cool down, recharge, or even head back to your resort for naps. There's no need to feel like you must be on the go every minute.
Finally, you can
book those dining reservations 60 days before you arrive, and I think a character meal would be a blast for your family. You'll get some beautiful photos, and you might be a little starstruck! Speaking of photos, this visit sounds very special, so consider purchasing
Memory Maker to get unlimited digital downloads of all the pictures taken by Disney PhotoPass photographers on your visit. I'm imagining your entire family grinning ear-to-ear in front of Cinderella Castle at
Magic Kingdom Park!
Marsha, I hope I've given you some ideas to help you get started as you plan this vacation for your family. I hope you
stop by planDisney if you have more questions because we'd love to help make this trip practically perfect.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
