My family is using the Disney dining plan on a trip in January. I have heard that we can substitute two snack credits for one quick service meal - is that correct? How does this work when we actually go to order food? Thank you!

Hey, Michael! I am so glad you stopped by with this question. What you heard is close to being correct, but it needs to be swapped around a bit. Let's take a look at what your options are when using the Disney Dining Plans.

For the 2017 plan, Guests will receive, per night of stay, credits for one Table Service meal, one Quick Service meal, and two snacks. Quick Service meals will consist of one entree and one nonalcoholic beverage. Table Service meals will consist of one entree, one nonalcoholic beverage, and one dessert, OR one full buffet or family-style meal. When you are ordering, feel free to ask your server about substitutions, but please understand that this may not always be possible.

In my experience, Cast Members have been very accommodating of substitutions. For example, the beverage in a Quick Service meal can be substituted for any snack credit eligible item. One of my favorite ways to make use of this is at Be Our Guest Restaurant, where I can order a cup of water so I can get my favorite Triple Chocolate Cupcake! The substitution you heard of involves using a Quick Service credit to purchase three snacks. My favorite use of this is at Magic Kingdom Park's Aloha Isle for three Dole Whip Floats.

Michael, please note that any substitutions you make to your Dining Plan must be completed in one transaction with items found at the same dining or snack location. I hope this information helps you plan some pretty delicious days! Stop by again anytime you have questions for us.
