My family and I are trying to decide which resort to stay at. We have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge- I would like to try the Animal Kingdom this time. Everyone thinks it is too far away from everything. Will be traveling Thanksgiving 2014.

Hi, Nancy!  We stay at Animal Kingdom quite often, and while the resort is a little out of the hustle and bustle, it's one of the things we love about it.  It's almost like a vacation within a vacation.  You are transported to the savannas of Africa, while still enjoying the fabulous theme parks and attractions at Walt Disney World.

Most of the transportation is by bus, but especially during peak times, I don't recall ever having to wait more than 15 or 20 minutes for transportation to wherever I wanted to go.  If you need to get somewhere quickly (not that I have ever overslept and had less than 15 minutes to get my family of five out the door to an early morning dining reservation - of course not!), you will have easy access to a taxi.

I think if you are looking for something different and a unique experience, this really is an amazing resort.  It's like nothing else out there, especially if you opt for a savanna view room.  I can't describe the looks of amazement on my daughters' faces when they woke up our first morning ever there to see a giraffe eating breakfast just beyond our balcony patio!

Happy planning, and if there's anything else we can do, you know just where to find us!
