    Hi! My family is taking a trip in early 2016 to celebrate my daughter completing chemotherapy- I heard families can be selected for special events like opening the parades when they are celebrating something special. How do you get selected for this?

    Hi, Emily!  What an absolutely phenomenal reason to celebrate!  I hope your daughter continues to get stronger with each passing day.

    The selection for families for things like Family of the Day is completely random.  There isn't really a rhyme or reason.  However, a big part of being selected is getting noticed by the cast member doing the selecting.  If I were you, I would deck out in matching or complementing shirts, get a button for your daughter that says she's celebrating, and be at the turnstiles as early as you possibly can before rope drop (the time the park officially opens in the morning).  The early bird definitely gets the worm in this case.

    I hope things work out so that your daughter gets this special pixie dust sprinkled her way.  My fingers are crossed for all of you, and I hope the trip is one you will always remember.
