Hi Jenny,
How wonderful you're visiting Walt Disney World for the first time and I'm so pleased you've already made some advanced dining reservations for your stay!
Some of my favourite Disney restaurants are outside of the parks, my girls are aged 10 & 12 and we especially like Kona Cafe and 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort, Narcoossee's and 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort and Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. There are also some great restaurants at Downtown Disney and on the Boardwalk.
What I suggest you do is visit the web site
allears, choose dining and then menus. It shows which ones are outside the parks and gives a brief description of each restaurant and type of food offered, this should help you make a decision.
Dining at different resorts is great as it also gives you the opportunity to look around before or after your meal. From Port Orleans Riverside it is reasonably easy to visit the monorail resorts, just catch the resort bus to Magic Kingdom and board the monorail. To access the Boardwalk you can either leave Epcot via the International gateway exit or catch a bus to Disney's Hollywood Studios and board the boat to the Beach Club.
Have a great trip and enjoy all your meals,
Jo
