Hi my family is taking our first crusie on April 20th on the Disney Fantasy. The question I have on our dining formal night is a long gown (like you would wear in a wedding) to fancy? I don't want to go in and feel out of place wearing a long gown.

Welcome aboard, Colleen! Your first cruise with Disney is sure to be a very memorable one, especially since you'll be onboard Disney's newest ship, the Fantasy! It's a gorgeous ship with so many activities and events going on all around the ship all day and night!

I am so happy to hear that you'd like to bring your long formal gown to wear on Formal Night. So many people shy away from getting dressed up, but our family loves to go all out. On Formal Night, you'll see guests in anything from women in a simple summer dress and men in just a shirt and tie to tuxedos and formal ball gowns, so your long gown will fit in perfectly. I always try to encourage guests to use this occasion to really dress up, because not many of us have that opportunity too often back home. We had a little tuxedo for our little guy to wear on the ships too, though now that he's outgrown it I'll have to get a new one! My daughter likes to wear her princess gown on Formal Nights, so that's an option if you have your own little princess too. But, like I mentioned, there will be others very dressed up like you, and others that are slightly less so, so do what makes you feel comfortable.

The Disney characters will be done up in their finest as well that evening. Look for Goofy in his tux, Minnie in her formal wear and many others all around the ship. Those meet n' greets make for some fabulous photo opportunities. Plus, there will be a couple areas set up in the atrium lobby for formal family portraits, so don't miss out on those.

I hope that information helps you plan your outfits, Colleen! Please let me know if you come up with any last minute questions before you set sail!
