Our family will be taking our first cruise to the western Caribbean in January. I definitely want to take the kids on a dolphin excursion. Which is the best for interaction and time spent with the dolphins? There's many choices! Thanks for your help!

    Ahoy, Jennifer!

I'm very excited to hEAR you'll be setting sail for your first Disney Cruise in January! The Western Caribbean is probably my favorite warm weather itinerary because of all the beautiful ports of call offered on these cruises. I know you're looking forward to exploring the islands and taking advantage of some wonderful Port Adventures while ashore. In the past, my family has experienced the Dolphin Push Pull and Swim in Cozumel and really enjoyed this excursion. We felt like the time spent with the dolphins was adequate, and we thoroughly enjoyed interacting with them and being pulled through the water for the grand finale! The location was at the Chankanaab National Park, which offered a nice pool area and beach along with a sea lion show after our adventure was over. We did purchase the picture package that was offered and have enjoyed having those to remember our experience.

Jennifer, there are a lot of dolphin adventures to consider so my best advice is to read over the descriptions carefully especially the "Know Before You Go" section, so you'll know exactly what to expect. My children don't like to be off the ship for very long so I always consider the duration when picking what we will do. My husband also has a tendency to get car sick when not driving so distance to the location is always something I have to be mindful of when we travel. And as you read the descriptions, notice what other options there are to experience if you want to stay longer. Sometimes these are included, but there may be an additional charge for amenities, activities or food so you'll want to plan ahead for that.

I hope I've steered you in the right direction! Please feel free to write back with other questions. We are always happy to help, Jennifer.

    Have a magical day!
