Our family will be taking a Disney Cruise and after that Disney world for a week!! We will be there December 21-Jan 2nd. How how much spending money should I bring?? We are big spenders!!! And also what are the MUST DO's why we are there!!?? Thank you!!!

    Welcome aboard, Dorothy!

Spending money is always a must when you go on a Disney vacation, as there are so many wonderful souvenirs and additional experiences available. On the cruise, don't forget to budget for gratuities. Traditionally, guests tip their server, assistant server, head server and stateroom host on the last day of the sailing. These tips can be pre-paid if you prefer, by calling Disney Cruise Line.

Once onboard, you'll want money for the gift shops and adult beverages that are not included in the cost of the cruise. You might also consider reservations at one of the Adult Exclusive restaurants onboard. Don't miss dining at Palo. It is my favorite restaurant, and certainly a top "must-do" on the cruise line! Though it carries an additional cost, I promise it's an experience you'll enjoy!

Your port stops will offer some wonderful shopping, so be sure to take advantage of the shopping talks onboard (see your Personal Navigator for times) to score discounts as well as tips for where to shop in port.

At the Walt Disney World Resort, if you have the Disney Dining Plan, you won't need to worry about food costs, so you'll just need some spending money when the shops on Main Street begin calling your name. And believe me, they will... "Dorothy... Dorothy!"

Spending money per family really varies, so my advice is to set a budget before you go. Maybe even put cash in assigned envelopes. Then, once the money is gone, it's gone. Our kids have grown to understand this, and actually really enjoy shopping around to find how they can best spend their money and still go home with some very special memories.

Finally, don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party while you're there. Though it requires an additional cost, it is a wonderfully festive night!

I hope that helps you plan, Dorothy!
