Hi there, Despina! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks so much for sending us your question. I’m thrilled to hear your family will be staying at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this December...what a magical time to visit!
I’ve been lucky enough to stay at "The Grand" a few times, and the resort’s Victorian charm and that towering Christmas tree in the lobby make it extra special this time of year. Plus, being just a short walk or monorail ride from Magic Kingdom means you’re right in the middle of the holiday magic!
For a Resort View room, you won’t have views of Cinderella Castle (those are reserved for Lagoon or Theme Park View categories), but there are still some great options. I’d recommend requesting Conch Key or Boca Chica, because both offer nice courtyard or marina views and are less than a 5 minute walk to the main building and transportation. I’ve stayed in Conch Key myself and loved the view of the monorail gliding by. It’s also conveniently close to the boat dock.
If you’d prefer to be near the lobby, Sago Cay or Sugarloaf Key are great choices, since they have quick access to
Gasparilla Island Grill, the pools, and the monorail. Resort View rooms can look out over the courtyard, marina, or pool area, so there’s really not a bad location in the bunch.
To make a room request, I like to call
Disney’s Reservations line or use the chat feature on the help page and ask them to note it on my file. Then a few weeks later, I call back just to confirm it’s still listed. Cast Members always do their best to honor requests, though they can’t be guaranteed. When you call, make sure to mention if you’re celebrating anything special!
The resort has been finishing up its lobby refurbishment recently with new carpet and furnishings, and the new look is absolutely beautiful. Fingers crossed the
Birdcage Bar and Garden View Tea Room will be open by your stay!
I hope this helps you have a truly Grand holiday vacation, Despina. If you need any more tips before your trip, please don’t hesitate to write back again!
See ya real soon,
Eean
