Aloha Tina!
Mahalo, (thank you) for coming to planDisney with your question! I actually just returned from
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa two days ago and I almost said, “Aloha!” to the coffee barista here in Indiana this morning! Everyone is so friendly in Hawaii, and the Aloha spirit is everywhere at Aulani. I am already trying to figure out when we can go back!
With MagicBands, the answer is…maybe. Officially, MagicBands are not used at Aulani at this time. I do know that the
ShopDisney MagicBand page mentions they are coming soon, but nothing official has occurred yet. Unofficially, some Guests report being able to use them. I brought our active MagicBands from our October 2020 Walt Disney World visit with us to Aulani. Unfortunately, they did not work for us. And I honestly didn’t see anyone else using them either. I agree it would have been easier, especially for my teens, to have MagicBands. However, I think I may have figured out what my mistake was. I have heard from others that they have had success with their most recent set of MagicBands. Since we are visiting Walt Disney World next month, we have newly ordered MagicBands for that trip that are the most recent MagicBands associated with My Disney Experience. I wonder if I had brought those newer MagicBands if they might have worked.
If you can bring your most recently associated MagicBands with you to Aulani, it is certainly worth the suitcase space to see if you have better luck than I did. It is also possible their use may become official before your visit. If not, you may find waterproof cases for your cell phones and key cards to be a good investment. You can buy them before your trip, but they also had Aulani themed ones at
Kalepa's Store, the resort gift shop, while we were there.
Wishing you better luck than I had with the MagicBands! If you have any other Aulani questions, Tina, please feel free to send them my way. We had a fantastic trip!
