Hi Abina!
I'm very excited to hear your family is sailing out of one of Disney's newest home ports-New York City! My first cruise was on the majestic Disney Magic, and you will be dazzled by her beauty when you arrive at the port to embark on your Bahamian adventure!
On my past cruises, I have always felt very secure in leaving my children in the kids' programming
because safety for Guests is Disney's number concern on every sailing. Each counselor is trained to handle emergencies that could occur at sea. Although your children won't participate in a safety drill while in the club or lab, the youth counselors are consistently reviewing emergency procedures by participating in drills. When your daughter and nieces are checked-in, they do wear identification bracelets so that the counselors know where to find you in case of any unforeseen circumstance. Before you sail away for the Bahamas, you will experience an assembly drill. Depending on your stateroom location, you are assigned a specific area (muster station) on the ship to go to in case of an emergency. If your child is participating in the youth programming, you will proceed to your muster station, and the youth counselors will meet you there with your child. Your muster station information is located on the back of your stateroom door. Also, you might want to read over the
Safety Information Page on
DisneyCruise.com.
I hope this information helps ease your concerns on ship emergencies, and your family has an amazing time sailing on this spectacular vessel!
Please let me know if you think of any other questions before your July voyage! I'm happy to help in any way I can!
Have a magical day!
Nancy
