    My family of 5 will be sailing on the Disney Fantasy in May. One of my children has a very serious nut allergy, but we've heard that Disney Cruise Lines can accomodate this. What are our dining options when on board? What do we need to prepare for?

    I'm thrilled to hear you are embarking on a Disney Fantasy Cruise in May!  Your crew of five will love navigating their way around this spectacular vessel especially when it's your to zip down the only water coaster at the sea, the AquaDuck!
    I'm glad you asked this question because I know traveling can be more stressful when you have a child with a serious food allergy.  Disney Cruise Line understands that accommodations need to made for their Guests and are very proactive in how they handle the situation.  If you haven't already, be sure the nut allergy is noted on your cruise reservation by calling (800) 951-3532.  Once you are onboard, the dining staff will speak with you nightly about your child's options for the following day.  When his/her food is prepared, it is in an area of the kitchen that is completely nut-free. During the day, you will have a sit-down option for breakfast and lunch at Royal Court.  This might be a better way to dine so you can speak to the dining staff about your child's needs.  But, if you do choose to dine at Cabanas, the quick-service counters or through room service, you will need to speak with the crew about the nut allergy before you make a selection.  In Cabanas, it is my understanding that the chefs will come out and speak with you about which food stations are safe. 
    These types of allergies are handled everyday on Disney Cruise Line, and I think you will find the personalized service and attention to detail very reassuring on your sailing. If you have any other concerns, please let me know.  I'm always happy to help!
