My family is reserved for November and I will be bringing my 8 week old newborn. I'm a little hesitant. We're looking to stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort or Port Orleans and was wondering about facilities at the theme parks- is it mom friendly?

    Hi there, Blanchelle!

I’m so excited to hEAR you’re planning on bringing your little Mouseketeer for their very first visit to Walt Disney World Resort! I’m happy to give you a few suggestions, as well as discuss the wonderful amenities Walt Disney World Resort offers parents!

I’ve been bringing my little ones to the Theme Parks since they were in my belly, and I have felt the types of concerns you have. First, I want you to know about the wonderful Baby Care Centers! These facilities are located in every Theme Park and provide amazing amenities for little ones! Inside, you will find private nursing rooms with rocking chairs, changing room with tables, microwave; you can also purchase formula, diapers, wipes, and over-the-counter medications and more. I have found solace there many times with my little guys.

Because I was pumping, I would bring a collapsable cooler that I would fill up with ice once I got to the Parks. You can ask any Quick-Service restaurants for ice and store the milk in the cooler in a rented locker. Your Mouseketeer will be able to experience any of the attractions that don’t have a height requirement. For attractions the baby can’t ride, Walt Disney World Resort offers the Rider Switch Service! Rider Switch allows parents of little ones to enjoy rides without waiting twice!

I would strongly encourage you to bring a stroller for the baby. Infants need lots of naps and having a stroller your baby is comfortable in, along with a nice blanket will make it easier to keep the sleep schedule intact. I also bring a rechargeable clip-on stroller fan for my kiddos during the days it gets warm!

Nothing beats the ease and convenience of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. You’re able to take Disney Resort Transportation back to your Resort hotel for breaks, which I highly recommend! We like to take afternoon breaks in the Resort hotel, hang out by the pool or nap in the room and then head back to the Parks once everyone is well rested. Disney’s Port Orleans - French Quarter is a delight to stay at because to me, it feels more quiet and it is one of the smaller Resort hotels so you get to your room or the lobby quicker. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort now has the Disney Skyliner that transports Guests to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios! All Walt Disney World Resort hotels have shops for your convenience where you can purchase diapers, wipes, over-the-counter medications for children if need be, and more. You can also request a complimentary crib or a Pack ’n Play at any Disney Resort hotel for your convenience. Be sure to make a note of this when you’re making your reservation!

Have the most magical vacation with your new Mouseketeer, Blanchelle!
