My family and I have a reservation at Animal Kingdom Lodge in late September. Are face shields acceptable for those with medical conditions that make it more difficult to breathe in a face mask?

Welcome to planDisney, Tommy, and thanks for stopping by with your question. How exciting to have an upcoming vacation in The Most Magical Place on Earth! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is an incredibly unique resort, with breathtaking views of animals roaming the savannas and some truly delicious dining options. During my family’s first stay at this resort, it quickly became a favorite of both my animal-loving daughter and my food-loving son. This resort also boasts the one of the largest collections of African art in the United States.

As Walt Disney World has begun the phased reopening of the parks and resorts, some new updates have been implemented based on guidance from health authorities such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and appropriate government agencies. These updates include the requirement of park reservations on the Disney Park Pass reservation system, face covering requirements, temperature screenings, and the use of My Disney Experience app to aid in physical distancing efforts.

The current face covering policy requires face coverings for all Guests, ages 2 and up, to be worn at all times except when dining or swimming. Face coverings can be removed while actively eating or drinking but you should be stationary and maintain physical distancing. All face coverings must be made with at least two layers of breathable material, fully cover the nose and mouth, secure under the chin, fit snuggly but comfortably against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops, and allow Guests to remain hands-free. I highly recommend that you continue to check the Know Before You Go page for updates and new information as it becomes available.

I hope this information helps you to prepare for your visit this September. Please stop back by planDisney any time we can help answer your vacation questions.
