Hi Laurie and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
You have some excellent options you are considering for your stay at Walt Disney World. It sounds like you had a great stay at Disney’s Port Orleans - Riverside. I love the meandering sidewalks and gracious trees at the resort. It hails to a more genteel way of living! Did you happen to stay in one of the Royal Guest Rooms? My kids think they are some of the best accommodations on property!
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are an excellent alternative. They sit on 750 acres of forest, and like Disney’s Port Orleans Resort evoke a bygone era - this time it’s the American frontier! Six adults can “rough it” in comfort at the cabins. There is a living room, full bedroom and bathroom, patio (complete with grill!), and kitchen in each of the hideaways. Did you know that Mousekeeping will even come in and do your dishes? Speaking of dishes, you can pre-order groceries and “come home” to a veritable pantry full of provisions for your stay!
Now, Disney Springs is the “your dessert-first, gotta-have-it, quality-time place to be!” For this reason, we love to stay at
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. It is a quick hop over a bridge to Disney Springs and all of the excitement it has to offer! I have found that the villas are comparable in size to the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The one-bedroom villas comfortably sleep up to four adults, while the two-bedroom villas sleep up to eight. They also come fully equipped with a full bedroom and bathroom, kitchen, and balcony.
Laurie, all of your options are excellent. I wish you much pixie dust while making your decision!
