My family and I are planning to visit WDW in January, 2013. I was wondering if free dining is ever offered for the month of January. Also how is the weather and the crowds during this time?

    Hi Jennifer,

You're an early planner. I love that!

There has been no information released about promotions for early 2013. Generally this sort of thing is announced 4-6 months in advance. I can tell you that historically, January is not the time that free dining promotions have been available. Typically when free dining has happened it has occurred in the time period between the last weekend in August and the first weekend in October. However, anything is certainly possible, so I'd keep checking back.

I have visited Walt Disney World during each of the past five Januaries (and I'm going there again tomorrow). The crowd situation is fabulously low then. You'll likely see a minor spike on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, but otherwise this is one of the lowest-crowd times of the year to visit.

The weather during January can be quite variable. According to weather.com, the average daytime highs in January are around 70 degrees and the average nighttime lows are around 50 degrees. However, when I've visited in January I've experienced everything from 30 to 85. You just have to keep and eye on the forecast and pack accordingly.

Thanks for writing and please let us know if we can be of any additional help.
