We are a family of 4, planning to visit WDW at the end of September for the first time. What are your feelings about travelling during this time of year, temperature, hurricane season etc. Any recommendations?

Hi, Judy!  I would never let hurricane season deter you from visiting the Orlando area.  Central Florida is usually pretty safe from the brunt of hurricanes, and while you can never predict this far ahead what hurricane season might be like, it shouldn't factor too much in deciding whether or not you visit Walt Disney World at this time of year.

The end of September is the beginning of the end of the rainy season in Orlando, so you might find a few less of the afternoon showers that the Orlando summers are known for.  Temperatures are still going to be warm, in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees, but it does begin to cool off a bit and the humidity starts decreasing slightly by that time of the year.

Typically, September crowds are among the lightest you'll find all year long, and at the end of September, you can even enjoy Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  With the recent announcement of free dining, however, you may find it a little busier than normal.

I think it's a great time to travel to Walt Disney World.  Again, it is hurricane season, but in all the years I lived in Orlando, we were only affected by one hurricane; whereas one year, the area was hit with three right in a row.  It's not something you can predict so far out, and you might only consider it marginally in deciding if September is the right time for you to travel.
