My family and I are planning our trip for Aug 16-25. I understand it will be hot, anywhere is hotter than NH. Our work and school schedules dictate we go this time of year. Typically, for late August, how are the crowds and the weather?

I've spent many summers in New Hampshire and Maine swatting away the black flies ;-)

While Orlando in August will be hotter than what you're used to (average August highs are around 92 degrees), I think one of the biggest differences you'll find in the weather is the temperatures in the evenings. In my experience, once the sun goes down in New England, it can get chilly quickly, even in August. In Florida, the temperature change is more gradual, and even in the middle of the night you could still find August WDW temps in the mid-70s. Also, August at WDW can be quite rainy. Often the rain comes down in buckets for an hour and then it stops abruptly and everything dries almost instantly.

On the plus side, the crowds toward the end of August should be light to moderate. Many of the local Florida school districts go back in session well before Labor Day, so the local traffic to the theme parks slows down considerably. At many of the WDW hotels, you will even find that value rate pricing is in effect, thus making your vacation more affordable.
