Hi Casey! Welcome to planDisney, I am so glad you found us to ask your Walt Disney World vacation planning question.
The initial planning stages of a visit to WDW is my favorite! It is so exciting to look at all the different resort hotels and decide which magical room will be the best for your family. I absolutely love
Port Orleans Riverside and
French Quarter! The theming at these resorts is gorgeous, the pools are fabulous, and you can get beignets at French Quarter.
While both of these lovely resorts are located on waterfront property, their waterway isn’t connected to Bay Lake or Seven Seas lagoon, which is where Magic Kingdom is located. So, to get to the theme park from Port Orleans, you would need to take a bus.
If you are looking for a resort with waterway transportation directly to Magic Kingdom, you will want to take a peek at
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa,
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort,
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, or
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. These resorts all provide boat transportation to Magic Kingdom, as well as between these resorts. Wilderness Lodge is the only one of these four that isn’t also on the monorail loop, too. There is also a walking path to Magic Kingdom from the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary.
I hope this helps with your decision, Casey. Please come back to planDisney with other questions you might have as you continue planning your January trip.
Happy Traveling,
Tracy
