    Hello! My family and I are planning are 1st Disney vacation from 10/13 - 10/17/2008 , concerned about the weather considering all the hurricanes lately. Is this still part of the rainy season? Also, is the PORvrside resort kid friendly?

    Hi Rebecca,

    I love Disney in October ,and it is my favorite time to be at the Walt Disney World Resorts. My family would routinely vacation during this month before the girls entered school.

    In general, rain is scattered. You are more likely to get a day of rain versus the everyday thunderstorm which happens in the summer. I would check a weather website to determine what to pack during your trip and definitely would include a sweatshirt in my luggage.

    As for the hurricanes, this has been a particularly bad season. I was in WDW for a hurricane in August of 2003, and the parks closed. However, Disney treated us very well.

    Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite Moderate Resort. My girls enjoy swimming at Ole' Man River and love being close to food and buses. Also, there is a very quaint and charming feel to this resort, and I think your children will enjoy it!
