My family will be in MK on July 4th can we leave the park and return during the day or is it not allowed because of the big crowds on the holiday? Have resv for Crystal Palace @1130am want to see fireworks thought could leave in late afternoon for awhile.

It's not so much that you won't be allowed to leave the park, it's that there might not be room for you when you return. July 4 is one of the top two or three most crowded days of the year at WDW. To control the number of people in the parks and the parking lots, they do occasionally have to institute some crowd control measures. If ever there was a day that crowd control would happen, July 4 is likely to be it. Disney Moms Panelist Bret does a great job of explaining this here.

If you do decide to leave the park, I suggest you do so via Disney transportation, and just leave your car in the lot so it will be there for your departure. To take a break during the day, use Disney transportation to go back to your resort pool (if you're staying on WDW property). If you're not on property, go see a movie at Downtown Disney or relax with a book in the beautiful lobby of the Grand Floridian hotel. Once you've recharged for a bit, try to return to WDW for the fireworks fairly early in the evening. That way you'll have the best chance for success in your return.
