Welcome aboard planDisney, Joan! Thanks for reaching out to us with your Disney Cruise Line question.
While vacations are all about unplugging and being in the moment, it’s also reassuring for loved ones at home to have a sense of your itinerary, whether it's for peace of mind or simply so they can live vicariously through your adventures! I’ll admit, I’m the same way when flying. I love using the tracker in the airline app to see where I am when I peek out the window. Your question had me curious, so I did some research and even contacted Disney Cruise Line directly.
At this time, Disney does not offer a public ship-tracking feature for friends and family on land. However, some independent websites do provide this service. If you search “track Disney Cruise Line,” you’ll find several options. I can’t vouch for their accuracy, but I used one to follow some friends who are currently taking a Norwegian cruise on the Disney Fantasy, and it seemed to be correct. Another option is to share your ship’s name and sail dates with your loved ones, and then they can always look up the official itinerary on the
Disney Cruise Line website.
I also understand how important it is to know how family can reach you in an emergency. Before you set sail, be sure to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Once onboard, you’ll be able to connect to the complimentary Wi-Fi and use iMessage or WhatsApp for text messaging at no extra cost (as long as both sender and receiver are on the same platform). Please note that photos won’t go through without a purchased internet plan. If you’d like full web, email, and social media access during your voyage, DCL does offer
internet packages for purchase.
I hope this helps give you and your loved ones some peace of mind, Joan! And remember, we’d love to hear from you again so sail back with more questions anytime.
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
