Our family will be making our first trip to Disney June 2013. We are staying for 8 days and have included a dining plan in with our tickets but as a mom I like to plan as close to the penny as I can. How much money should I plan for in addtion

    Hi Kimberly!

I bet you are excited about your upcoming trip! You are wise to purchase the Disney Dining Plan with your tickets, as this will greatly help you budgt your trip since all of your meals, snacks and drinks will be paid for in advance.

When budgeting, please keep in mind that gratuity is not included in the Disney Dining Plan, so you will want to factor that into your budget. You will also want to factor in any souvenirs, "extra" experiences, such as spa treatments, golfing, shopping, boat rentals, fireworks cruises, balloons and more. The price is completely subjective depending on the family and the type of experience you are looking to have.

The best way to plan ahead for your budget is to set a limit on souvenirs ahead of time. I always tell my kids that they can pick one item each at the end of the trip. Everyday they think they found their one thing that they "have to have" but the next day they find somehing else. Saving it for the end saves headaches and hassles, as well as a case of the gimmies. We also plan ahead for experiences that we want to do as a family, and indivdually, and ensure to budget for them.

I hope you have a magical vacation!

    Magically,
    Stacy
