Hi. Our family of 5 (2 kids, 2 adults and 1 teen) will be going to WDW in May. We did not order the dining plan and want to eat for as little $ as possible. How much $ would you estimate we would need for 7days/7nights? Are there any grocery stores?

    Hi Tammy,

I totally understand you wanting to stay on a budget. However, you might want to take a look at the Disney Dining Plan again as it might be more economical than you think. I estimate you need about $750 for your trip depending on where and what you eat.

I would go to Allearsnet.com and look at the prices for meals. I would compare the price of one day food on the Disney Dining Plan versus off the plan. For your "kids", the price is around $12 a day for a snack, counter service and table service meal with the basic Disney Dining Plan.

To reduce my food bill while I am at Walt Disney World, I pack non-perishable items such as cereal, snacks and other food items that will travel well with us. I then schedule a food stop if I am taking a car service to pick up milk, water, eggs, etic. to arrive. You can also use the Garden Grocer to order food which will be delivered to your resort.

The stores at the Disney Resorts are more for the convenience. While prices are slightly inflated, it is nice to know I can buy milk if I need it.

    Have a magical vacation!
